The Cardinal Cash Bonus is available to Stanford University students with an active Stanford FCU Student Spending account. The bonus is calculated based on select purchases made with your Student Spending account debit card or any Stanford FCU credit card, minus any credits and returns, and excluding cash advances and balance transfers. The bonus is paid at the beginning of the month for the prior month’s spending activity. Qualifying purchases must be from Amazon/Prime/Audible, Apple.com (not physical Apple retail stores), ChatGPT/OpenAI, Disney/Hulu/ESPN, DoorDash, Instacart, Netflix, Peacock, Spotify, or Uber. You must have an active Student Spending account at the time the cash bonus is paid at the beginning of each month. Cash bonus is capped at $25 per month and $300 per year, and deposited into your Student Spending account. Any taxes due on the bonus deposit are the sole responsibility of the recipient. The bonus is discretionary and subject to change without notice.

Effective 1/6/2025, the Stanford FCU Refer A Student program is available to Stanford FCU members age 17 and up. Bonuses are earned and paid after the referred student provides the referring member’s unique promo code at the time they join the credit union, then meets the membership eligibility and spending requirements described below.

The referring member will receive bonuses between $50 and $150 for each qualified referral as follows: $50 for the first referral, $75 for the second referral, $100 for the third referral, $125 for the fourth referral, $150 for the fifth referral and every referral after. To receive the higher payouts, the referred new students must all join within the same calendar year, although the spending qualifications may take up to 120 days and do not need to be achieved within the same calendar year. The timeline for referrals will reset each January 1st with the first referral of the new year earning $50 regardless of how many referrals occurred the prior year.

The referred new student will receive a $50 bonus regardless of the bonuses earned by the referring member. In order for the referring member and the referred student to receive the bonus, the referred new student will need to open a Student Spending (checking) account with the promo code and spend a minimum $200/month on their debit and/or credit cards for the first three consecutive months from account opening.

The Refer A Student promo code is unique to the referring member, and can be used by an unlimited number of referred new students. An existing member can refer an unlimited number of new students. A referred student may only receive one new member bonus regardless of the number of accounts or memberships opened. If the promo code is not used and the referring member was not identified at the time of account opening, no bonus will be awarded to either member.

Stanford FCU reserves the right to modify or cancel this program without notice. However, any cancellation or modification will not affect bonuses for accounts already opened that have not yet met the requirements. Stanford FCU employees, family members and volunteers are not eligible. Bonuses will not be paid for members who live in the same household. We reserve the right to disqualify any referrals in circumstances where we reasonably believe they were not sent to us in good faith.

The bonuses will be deposited into the accounts of both the referring member and the new student the day after the new student meets the requirements. Any taxes due on the bonus deposits are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Stanford FCU will report all bonus deposits to the appropriate state and federal agencies as required by applicable law. This offer cannot be combined with any other Stanford FCU promotional offers. This offer is invalid if the referred student had a Stanford FCU account that was closed within the last two years. Accounts are subject to all terms and conditions set forth in the current Important Account Information for Members Booklet, the Disclosure Fee Schedule, and the specific loan account disclosures.

All credit cards are subject to credit approval and membership eligibility. Proof of student eligibility is required. Applicant must be at least 18 years old. U.S. address is required for membership. 5.00% APR is the fixed rate for sixty months from card opening for credit lines up to $2,500. After that, the Student card will convert to a Platinum Cash Back credit card with different features and benefits. The APR will increase and become variable (the current purchase rate is 13.49% to 17.99%). The following credit card fees are waived for sixty months from account opening, then standard fees will apply: Late payment fees, returned convenience check fees, returned payment fees, document copy fees, and rush order fees.
